The N2B was created by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s for pilots and ground crews, using materials specially designed for the coldest regions of the world. At the time, the jacket was lined with wool, and the fur around the collar was coyote. Its elongated, “snorkel”-shaped hood was designed to protect the face from wind and snow through a tunnel-like opening. The civilian version did away with all the straps used to secure oxygen hoses. Today, the N2B remains an essential style and a must-have in U.S. military-inspired fashion, alongside the MA1 bomber jacket.
